Growing Ute Living Language

The Growing Ute Living Language Program is a “just in time” revitalization effort, working hand-in-hand with Tribal Elders to record and teach the Ute language and culture for future generations. Across the continent, Indigenous languages are going extinct, robbing communities of their ancient connection to ancestors, thought processes, and way of life. With just 20 living, fluent Elders remaining, the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe has stepped in with dramatic and impactful language revitalization efforts.
